Expansion on Existing Plant Facilities

The Board of Directos of POLY GLASS FIBRE (M) BHD. ("Poly") wishes to announce that its wholly owned subsidiary, Poly Glass Fibre Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd. ("PGF"), a glass mineral wool insulation manufacturer, will be spending more than RM 10 million in the financial year ending 28 February 2012 to expand its current plant facilities. The expansion works will be carried out in June 2011, after which the plant capacity is expected to increase by 50% to a total production capacity of 12,000 MT per annum. The additional capacity is needed in order to cater for the growing demand in ASEAN and Oceania region Demand for glass mineral wool has been mainly driven by the strong economy growth in ASEAN region and increasing public awareness on climate change and the benefits of insulation.

Other than increased capacity, the new state-of-the-art technology will also help to improve product quality, where it will have lower thermal conductivity (k-value) better tensile strength and very user friendly. Higher thermal resistance value or R-value can be achieved with lower density products therefore making our insulation products more affordable. Manufacturing cost will also be lowered by adopting high energy-efficiency equipments and more automation.

Barring any unforseen circumstances, PGF's next step is to switch from an electric melter to a gas furnace to lower energy cost, as well as boost its capacity from 12,000 MT per annum to 15,000 MT per annum. The plant will be one of the most efficient glass mineral wool plant in Asia after completion. These enhancements are essential to strengthen PGF's competitive edge and is in line with its vision to become the industry's leader in Asia Pacific.
